Refinishing restores the surface a piece left the factory with — high polish, satin, brushed, hammered, Florentine, or bead-blast. It is the step that separates a repaired piece from a presentable one, and the step most often done wrong: buffing a brushed Florentine ring to a mirror shine technically 'polishes' it and simultaneously destroys the design. Every finish is identified against reference samples before a wheel touches the metal.

- Does polishing remove metal from the piece?
- A small amount, yes — which is why over-polishing thins shanks and softens engraving. We polish to the minimum needed to restore the finish rather than defaulting to a full buff at every service.
- Can scratches always be polished out?
- Surface scratches, yes. Deep gouges are filled and reworked first, because polishing a deep scratch away removes far more metal than repairing it does.
- Will you restore the original texture, not just shine?
- Yes. Satin, brushed, hammered, and Florentine textures are re-cut with calibrated wheels and matched against the surviving original surface on the piece.
