Manufacturing

From a CAD file or from an idea, to a finished piece. We design, print, cast, set and finish in our own factory in Hollywood, Florida — production runs for jewelers and brands, and one-off custom pieces made to order.

Who we are

RJS jewelers working at their benches on the factory floor in Hollywood, Florida

RJS is a jewelry factory in Hollywood, Florida, with more than twenty years in the trade. We manufacture and we repair, for retail chains, e-commerce jewelers, brands, and independent jewelers across the United States.

Everything is made here. Nothing is sent overseas.

Every piece and every parcel of stones is covered by our Lloyd's of London Jewelers Block policy while it is in our care — photographed at intake, documented at each stage, returned insured and tracked.

CAD, 3D printing & casting

For jewelers, brands and retailers who need production.

Send a file and we print, cast, finish and set it. Send an idea and we design it first. Gold in 10k, 14k and 18k, white, yellow and rose, plus platinum and silver. No minimum order — one piece or a thousand.

From CAD file to finished piece

Send a CAD file, a carved model, or a mould you already own. We print it, cast it in the metal you specify, finish it, set it, and send it back ready for the case.

One supplier, one invoice, one point of accountability — instead of a designer, a caster, a setter and a finisher who never speak to each other.

You send the file or the model, the metal and karat, the finish, the quantity, and the stones.

You receive a finished piece, inspected against your own file before it ships.

No minimum order. One piece or a thousand, same intake.

No file yet? Start with an idea.

Send a photograph, a sketch, a description, or a piece to copy or modify. Our designers model it in CAD and send back renderings for approval before any metal is committed.

You see the piece from every angle. You know what it weighs in 14k and in platinum. You know the stone count before you quote your customer. Your customer signs off on a rendering instead of on a finished piece they are seeing for the first time.

Designing around stones you already have. Most custom work starts with a stone, not a blank page. Send the stones and we measure them here — actual dimensions, not paper weight, because two stones of the same carat weight cut to different depths need different settings. If you would rather not source stones at all, we supply them.

Designed to be serviceable. We repair jewelry as well as design it, so we know which designs come back: shanks that are elegant and too thin at the bottom, prongs set too low to resize around, channel work with no metal left to tighten later. Designing for that costs nothing at the CAD stage and saves a warranty claim afterwards.

Precise, because we are the ones who see what fails

Every casting is checked for porosity, short fill and dimensional drift against your file before it leaves the factory.

That check means more here than it does at most casting houses, for a reason that has nothing to do with marketing. We also repair jewelry. Pieces that failed in the field arrive at our factory from every manufacturer there is, and we are the ones who cut them open and fix them.

A casting house that never sees the failure cannot learn from it. We see it every week — which gate placements leave porosity under a prong, which shank sections crack on the first resize, which wall thicknesses do not survive polishing.

It is the difference between a casting that passes inspection and a casting that passes inspection and comes back in eighteen months.

Workflow

HOW THE WORK RUNS.

Batch of cast jewelry components laid out on an RJS bench for setting and finishing
  1. 01

Send a CAD file, a physical model, or your mould. CAD files are printed here.

  2. 02

We confirm metal, karat, colour, finish, and quantity in writing before anything is poured.

  3. 03

The model is sprued and invested.

  4. 04

    Burnout and cast.

  5. 05

The raw casting is cut, cleaned, and inspected for porosity, short fill, and dimensional drift against the model.

  6. 06

Finishing to the agreed level — raw, pre-polish, or finished and plated.

  7. 07

Setting, if stones are part of the job.

  8. 08

    Insured, tracked return.

File checks

Where printed models go wrong.

Most failed prints are failed files. The recurring problems:

  • Walls too thin. A section that prints cleanly in resin can short-fill in metal or polish through. Resin tolerates geometry that gold does not.

  • Prong tips modelled sharp. A prong that ends in a point prints as a point, casts thin, and burns off at the tip during the first polish. Prongs need stock at the top to be worked down later.

  • Unsupported overhangs and bridges. Anything the printer has to build out over air comes back with surface artefacts that then have to be filed out by hand, which changes the dimension you specified.

  • Stone seats cut to the stone's exact measurement. Metal shrinks during casting. A seat cut to a precise 3.00 mm does not hold a 3.00 mm stone after the piece comes out of investment.

We flag these before printing rather than after casting. If a file has a problem that will show up in metal, you hear about it while it is still cheap to fix.

Pricing

What drives the cost.

Gold bands, loose diamonds, loupes and calipers on an RJS workbench
  • Metal, first and by a wide margin. Weight times the day's metal price. A platinum casting of the same model costs multiples of the same piece in 14k, and nothing else on the invoice moves the total as much.

  • Quantity, in your favour. Sprueing ten of a model costs little more than sprueing one, which is why a production run is cheaper per piece than a one-off.

  • Complexity. Thin sections, undercuts and multi-part assemblies all raise the failure rate, and a higher failure rate is a higher price.

  • Printing is the small number. Resin is priced by volume used, so a wide signet costs more to print than a thin band, and a sprawling design uses more build plate than a compact one. File preparation adds to it if the file needs repair first. But against the metal, printing is a rounding error.

Then finishing level, and whether setting is included.

We quote per job rather than publishing a price list, because metal moves daily.

Custom jewelry

For anyone who wants a piece made rather than bought off a tray.

An engagement ring designed around a stone you already own. A grandmother's setting rebuilt into something you will actually wear. A piece you have described to three jewelers who all said it could not be done.

We make it in our own factory, start to finish. You approve a rendering before any metal is cut, so nothing is a surprise when the box opens.

How it works

  1. 01

Tell us what you have in mind. A photograph, a sketch, a description, a piece you want changed.

  2. 02

If you have stones, you can send them.

  3. 03

We model it in CAD and send renderings. You approve the design before any metal is committed.

  4. 04

We cast, set and finish it in our factory, and ship it insured.

Common questions

Can you use the stones from a ring I already have?
Yes, and it is the most common custom job we do. The stone's real measurements decide the design, so we measure it here rather than working from the paperwork.
Do I have to know what I want?
No. Most people arrive with a photograph and a feeling. That is enough to start — the rendering is where it becomes specific.
How do I know what it will cost before I commit?
The CAD model gives the exact metal weight and stone count, so we can price it in several metals before anything is made.
Is my piece insured while you have it?
Yes. Every piece and every stone is covered by our Lloyd's of London Jewelers Block policy from the moment it arrives until it is back with you.
FAQ · Casting

Common
questions.

A client's piece being photographed and logged at the RJS intake desk on arrival
Can you cast from my CAD file?
Yes. We print the model and cast it, without the file leaving our factory.
Can you cast from a model I carved?
Yes, wax or printed resin.
Is jewelry 3D printed in gold?
No, and it is worth being clear about because quotes get misread. The printer produces a model in castable resin or wax. That model is burned out during casting and the metal piece is cast. A printing price is not a production price, and a printed model is not something a customer can wear.
Do you cast platinum?
Yes. Platinum, silver, and 10k, 14k and 18k gold in white, yellow and rose.
Is there a minimum order?
No. One piece or a thousand.
What happens if a casting fails?
It gets recast. A failed casting is caught at our inspection stage, not yours.
Can you fix my file if it won't print?
Yes. Our CAD team repairs files for printing — closing open meshes, correcting wall thickness, and adjusting geometry that will not survive casting.
Can you cast and set in one job?
Yes, including stones you send us.
Do you work with other jewelers, or only retailers?
Both. Independent jewelers without casting or printing equipment are a normal account for us.
Can I use RJS for manufacturing if I already use you for repair?
Yes, on the same account. Manufacturing jobs run through the same intake and the same custody documentation.
Do you manufacture under my brand?
Yes. Packaging, paperwork, and customer-facing communication can carry your brand rather than ours — the same arrangement as our white-label repair programs.
Where is the work done?
In our Hollywood, Florida factory. Nothing is sent overseas.
How long does a custom piece take?
It depends on the piece, the metal and whether setting is part of the job, so we quote a timeline per job rather than publishing one. Ask when you send the file and you get a date before any work starts.
