Engraving cuts text or artwork permanently into metal — by hand with a graver, by rotating machine cutter, or with a laser for fine detail and photo etching. Hand engraving has depth and a cut edge that catches light; machine and laser work are faster, more uniform, and better suited to volume gifting programmes. Which one you need depends on the surface: a curved inside band, a flat locket face, and a hardened steel case each demand a different tool.

- Can an existing engraving be removed or changed?
- Often. Shallow engraving can be polished out and recut, but each removal takes metal, so there is a limit — we assess the wall thickness before committing and tell you if it is not safe.
- Which fonts and scripts are available?
- Standard block and script sets, plus custom fonts and brand logos for retail programmes. We proof the layout for approval before cutting anything.
- Can you engrave a ring that is already set with stones?
- Yes for inside-band work in most cases. Tension settings and full-eternity bands are the exceptions, and we flag those at intake rather than at return.
