Clasp Replacement & Repair
Secured. Replaced. Restored.

Worn, broken, or failing clasps replaced and repaired with matched or upgraded hardware — then load-tested before they go back to the customer.

What clasp replacement & repair is

And when a piece
actually needs it.

A clasp is the only moving mechanism on most jewellery, and it fails from cycle fatigue — a spring ring opened twice a day gets tens of thousands of cycles in a decade. You need clasp work when the mechanism no longer clicks shut decisively, when the spring feels soft, or when a customer reports finding the piece hanging from one shoulder. Replacement is often the moment to upgrade: an arthritic wearer is far better served by a magnetic or push-button clasp than by a 5mm spring ring.

Typical cost

$40–$90 for a standard replacement, plus the cost of the clasp hardware chosen.

Ranges are consumer-facing guidance from our published guides. Every job is confirmed in writing after evaluation.

Overview

Engineered for
retail programs.

Clasp failure is the second-most-common cause of in-warranty returns after stone loss. We replace with matched OEM-style hardware or upgrade to a customer-preferred style, then verify under tension before release.

On vintage and antique pieces, original-style box and barrel clasps are fabricated to match when stock replacements would compromise the period authenticity.

FAQ · Clasp Replacement & Repair

Clasp Replacement & Repair,
answered.

Specific questions about clasp replacement & repair — what it costs, when it's needed, and what we do differently.

Should I repair the clasp or replace it?
Springs and tension tongues can often be re-tensioned. Once the body of the clasp is worn oval at the hinge, replacement is the honest recommendation — a re-tensioned worn clasp will fail again within months.
Can you fit an easier-to-use clasp?
Yes. Magnetic, push-button, and slide-lock clasps are common upgrades for customers with limited dexterity, and we can add a safety chain as a second line of defence.
What about the original clasp on an antique piece?
We fabricate period-correct box and barrel clasps rather than fitting a modern stock part, so the piece keeps its period authenticity and its value.
