Antique & Vintage Restoration
Heritage, Preserved.

Estate, antique, and vintage pieces restored to their original specification — period-correct technique, original tolerances, and senior restorers only.

What antique & vintage restoration is

And when a piece
actually needs it.

Restoration returns a period piece to its original specification using the techniques it was built with — hand-cut filigree, millegrain, fired enamel, hand engraving. It is a different discipline from repair: the goal is not the fastest durable fix but the one that preserves the object's authenticity and value. You need it when an Edwardian gallery has collapsed, when enamel has chipped, when millegrain has worn smooth, or when a previous 'quick fix' introduced modern solder that has to be undone.

Typical cost

Quoted in writing after evaluation — no bench work begins until the price is approved.

Overview

Engineered for
retail programs.

Antique restoration requires a different discipline: period-correct fabrication, original-tolerance matching, and patience to reconstruct components that no longer exist as stock parts.

When original material is missing, we fabricate matching components from raw stock instead of substituting a modern facsimile.

FAQ · Antique & Vintage Restoration

Antique & Vintage Restoration,
answered.

Specific questions about antique & vintage restoration — what it costs, when it's needed, and what we do differently.

Will restoration reduce the value of an antique piece?
Sympathetic, period-correct restoration generally preserves or improves value; modern shortcuts destroy it. That is why we fabricate missing components from raw stock to the original tolerances rather than substituting a contemporary part.
Can worn hand-engraving be recut?
Yes, by hand. We photograph the surviving pattern under magnification and recut to match the original graver's angle and depth, rather than machine-cutting an approximation.
What documentation comes back with the piece?
A condition report from intake, before-and-after photography, and a written record of every material and technique used — the paperwork estate and insurance programmes need.
